Hilton, Byron-Bergen take first

Hilton won the Girls I crown by placing five runners in the top ten and Byron-Bergen took the Boys III title in the Marcus Whitman Wildcat Invitational Cross Country tournament.

For the Cadets, ranked 18th nationally, Amanda Griggs finished first in 18:37, Caroline Schultz third in 19:34, Allison Sawyer six seconds back in fourth in 19:40, Shelby Herman seventh in 19:56 and Ashley Jones tenth in 20:26 to lead them to the title.

Brockport finished tenth in team points in Girls I with 274. Byron-Bergen, led by Gillian Taylor, who took third in 21:25, finished sixth in the Girls II bracket. Holley was tenth in Girls III with 332 team points.

In the boy's competition, Byron-Bergen finished first in the Boys III bracket with 51 points. Matt McNally, who was third in 18:02, and Chris Martinelli, eighth in 18:19, led the Bees. Holley finished tenth in this bracket.

In Boys I, Hilton took fifth and Brockport tenth thanks to Mark Streb finishing fourth in 16:53.

Kendall runners Eric Fahy and Heath Marchand were medal winners as the Eagles finished tenth in the Boys IV bracket. Fahy crossed the finish line in 20:44 and Marchand in 20:50. Larry Boring, Matt Halligan, Mitchell and Dave McLaren also competed for the Eagles as they finished ahead of Batavia Notre-Dame for the first time ever. Amy Tennity was the only Eagles female runner; she completed the course in 30:16.
