David Lavery

Veteran sales representative retires from Westside News Inc.

David Lavery retired recently from a career in advertising sales which spanned decades. Committed to customer satisfaction, Dave not only met the advertising needs of his clients but became friends with legions of business owners and employees as he visited them to prepare ads throughout the years.

David Lavery joined the Westside News sales staff in 1989 after full time work in sales at the Pennysaver organization, now Adnet Direct. While at Westside News, Dave handled such Brockport, North Chili, Chili, Churchville-Riga and Bergen accounts as OnTrac Equipment Corp., Amish Outlet and Gifts, Stone’s Countryside Tavern, Leo Bean Funeral Home, Craft Suppies Unlimited, Clover Home Leisure Centers, Weckesser Brick, Prudential KARES, Ogden-Chili Nothnagle, Roberts Wesleyan College, Sweetie Pies, Spurr Dealerships, ANG Markets, Rose Garden and Viking Valhalla and OK Market.

“How’s everybody doing?” was Dave’s usual greeting as he entered the office. Good natured and with a sharp sense of humor, he often has a good joke to tell, a funny story to relate or a strange-but-true happening to recount. His time on the road was sometimes spent listening to talk radio and, if the talk was about politics, so much the better. He led some lively discussions which came from everyday government actions and his views on them.

Dave is a proud military veteran, a Korean War soldier. He’s visited Ireland with his wife, Char, enjoys traveling and loves visits with his family and grandchildren. Two weeks ago, at an office birthday lunch for him, he said he wasn’t sure exactly what he will do next but he’s pretty sure that the cold and snow of western New York winters will be something he reads about in the newspapers but would rather not have to trudge through again. Florida may be a winter destination.

With deep appreciation for his work ethics, the staff of Westside News Inc. wishes Dave Lavery good luck and good health. Stop in and say hello. The answer to “How’s everybody doing?” is that it is not the same here without you.

Love,
All of us at Westside News Inc.
