BOCES 2 students,
instructor serve up a masterpiece

Students Kaylin Dalton of Hilton, David Simoni of Holley, Stephanie Szostak of Greece Odessey and Cory Valerio of Greece Olympia, showed they could handle the heat at a competition hosted by the New York State Restaurant Association.

The BOCES 2 culinary arts students competed in an Iron Chef competition against three other teams of New York state restaurant owners. They were presented with several ingredients and challenged to make an appetizer and entree in less than an hour. The students outperformed their veteran counterparts and were awarded first place for their efforts.

Members from the NYSRA recognized BOCES 2 culinary arts instructor Kevin Bedard as"ProStart Teacher of the Year." BOCES 2 was one of the first schools in New York state to adopt the ProStart program, which is a national curriculum developed for high school culinary arts programs, linked with mentored worksite experiences.
