What a ride!

Thanks to the help of friends, Ron Lemcke got to do something he had always wanted to do. He says: "I want to thank Connie Castaneda, Tim Rombout and the Brockport Fire Department for helping me realize one of my lifelong dreams. Since I was a child I loved the fire department and what it stands for. I always wanted to be a fireman, but because I am legally blind, that is not an option for me. Instead, I found consolation collecting more than 100 model fire trucks and photos. But thanks to Connie Castaneda and Tim Rombout, one of my lifelong dreams was realized when these two wonderfully kind people arranged for me to ride in the pumper fire truck the day of the SUNY Brockport Homecoming Parade. It was so exciting. It made my whole year. I want to express my sincere appreciation for Connie, Tim, the Fire Department and all the people who took the time to make my dream a reality. If there is anything I could do within my limitations to support the fire department, I will be honored and happy to do so." Shown: Tim Rombout, Ron Lemcke, Connie Castaneda. Submitted photo.
