Hamlin Library receives state approval

After five years of exponential growth, the Hamlin Public Library will celebrate its official approval from New York state. On Monday, November 14 at 6:15 p.m., the library will have a reception to celebrate the conferral of its permanent charter. The Hamlin Town Board will be present, as well as Senator George Mazairz. The public is welcome to attend.

The permanent charter signifies that the library is "educationally sound and stable, and capable of relative permanence," and that it meets or exceeds specific state standards for libraries.

In the five years the library has been open, it has quadrupled its size. Most recent improvements have taken place in the children's area, with new shelves and decor. The library also boasts a community meeting room, complete with the technology many groups and presenters have come to expect. Circulation statistics increased to over 7,000 this past August alone. With continued community support, the library looks forward to many more years of success, according to staff.
