Brockport code violations investigated

Village of Brockport Code Enforcement officers, with the assistance of the Brockport Police Department, executed two search warrants on Sunday, November 6 at properties located at 26 Brockway Place and 60 Perry Street. Both properties are single-family residences that were used as student housing and are owned by the same individual.

The property owner ignored written requests to inspect the premises. Various fire code and occupancy violations were found at both properties.

Search warrants were executed as a result of complaints made to the mayor and village board members from private citizens. Mayor Mort Wexler said that village occupancy ordinances will be strictly enforced and due to the failure of the landlord to cooperate with code enforcement officers, Wexler said the village would be taking a firm stance when these cases come before the court.
