Election results

Voters in the towns of Bergen, Clarendon, Murray and Sweden came out on November 8 to cast their votes for supervisors, justices, clerks and town council members.

Uncontested races in Bergen and Clarendon saw incumbents keep their seats.

In the Town of Bergen Supervisor John Specht garnered 426 votes; board members, Julie Baker and Donald Cunningham received 426 and 401, respectively. Justice Donald Kunego received 442.

In the Town of Clarendon, incumbent Supervisor Richard Moy received 397 votes in his uncontested bid for re-election. E. John DeFilipps garnered 389, beating challenger Paul Nicosia, who received 369 in their bids for council seats.

Town of Murray incumbent Supervisor Henry Lehning retained his seat in the uncontested race for supervisor. He received 593 votes.

Deputy Clerk Cynthia Oliver received 661 votes, beating Town Clerk Jennifer Piedmonte in her bid to retain the seat she's held for many years. Piedmonte garnered 394 votes.

For council seats, John Morriss and Henry Wagner received 544 and 507 votes, respectively. They beat challengers Rocco Gervasi, who received 315, and Donald MacIntyre, who received 345.

Edward Morgan garnered 667 votes in his successful bid for highway superintendent position and Lynn Wood received 592 to retain the town assessor seat.

Town of Sweden Supervisor Nat O. Lester III ran uncontested and received 1,562 votes. Karen Sweeting received 1,618 votes in her uncontested bid for the town clerk position.

Town Council seats saw a contested race between incumbents Robert Carges, who received 1,340 votes, Danielle Windus-Cook, who received 1,494 and political newcomer George Lloyd, who received 849 in his unsuccessful bid for a council seat.

Kathleen Roberts received 1,606 votes in the bid for tax collector.
