BOCES 2 communication staff receive awards

The communications staff at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES has been recognized for achievement in educational communications by the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA).

Mark Ball, communications manager, and Monika Markidis, assistant digital printing coordinator, received an award of excellence for a brochure highlighting BOCES 2 programs and services and their impact on the education of students from pre-school through continuing education.

Jackie Finn, communication specialist, received an award of excellence in photography for an image of BOCES 2 Career and Technical Education teacher Al DiProspero instructing a student on the use of a milling machine in the precision machine shop. Finn also won an award of honor in photography for an image of a preschooler reading a book. She has provided communication services for Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES for eight years.

Grace Griffee, communication specialist, received an award of excellence in photography for an image of BOCES 2 Music Therapist Chris Gold working with a student. In addition, she received an award of honor and an award of merit in photography for the Holley Central School District for images of students on a field trip to Partyka Farms and teachers and students participating in field days at school, respectively. She has provided communication services to the Holley and Kendall Central School District through Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES for seven years.

For writing, photography and editing, Ball, Finn, and Griffee, with Marilee Whalen, graphic designer, also received an award of honor for the BOCES 2 staff newsletter the Together.

The award ceremony was held on October 28. More than 600 entries were submitted in 16 categories from across New York state.
