Hilton High School Sports Hall of Fame to induct five

Hilton High School Sports Hall of Fame has selected five members to be inducted this year. Induction ceremonies will be held Thursday December 29 at 6 p.m. in the upstairs commons area of Hilton High School, 400 East Avenue. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Inductees are: Kermit "Cy" Gavigan, Class of 1954, bowling, baseball, soccer and basketball; Karen (Soehner) Larkin, Class of 1977, soccer, indoor track and outdoor track; Shelia Soehner, Class of 1980, field hockey, indoor track and outdoor track; Judy (Ingham) Daniel, Class of 1980, field hockey, indoor track and outdoor track; and Mike Gibbs, Class of 1989, soccer, basketball and tennis.

The Hilton High School Sports Hall of Fame annually inducts former Hilton High School students recognizing those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Hilton athletic program and in some cases, at a higher level, through their participation as athletes, coaches or administrators. Qualifications are: graduate of Hilton High School who has been out of school a minimum of five years or coach who has been retired from coaching for five years; individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Hilton sports program or have established themselves in the field of athletics on the local, state, national or international level; a student who, while in high school, received athletic honors such as All-American, All-State, All-Greater Rochester, State/Sectional Championship, Athlete of the Year or All-County, (overall team success and multiple-sport participation may also be considered); any student who participated in Hilton High School athletics may be considered under special circumstances.
