Assemblyman Bill Reilich and Fire Chief Christian McCullough meet in Albany.

Brockport firefighters meet with assemblyman in Albany

Brockport firefighters traveled to Albany to meet with Assemblyman Bill Reilich to discuss future needs of the fire department. Reilich secured grant money totaling more than $8,400 for the department to purchase additional upgrades for the H.U.R.S.T. rescue tool, and some much needed water rescue equipment. Included in the funds will be a life ring flotation device that will be kept at the Village's Community Center on the Erie Canal for both center staff and rescuers should someone fall in the water.

"We are very fortunate to have the support and cooperation of the Assemblyman and his entire staff," Chief Christian McCullough said. "Through his efforts, we have been able to bring state tax dollars back into the community and maintain a fiscally sound and conservative spending plan in our budget. We have been able to purchase equipment and provide a greater level of safety for our personnel without impacting the local taxes. We are very pleased to be able to report this to our community."

While visiting Albany, Reilich's Chief of Staff Michelle Marini provided a tour of the legislative office building, both the Assembly and Senate chambers and the NYS Museum and Archives where FDNY's #6 Engine is on display after being destroyed during the attacks of 9/11.

McCullough, Assistant Chief Tim Rombaut and Public Information Officer Christopher Martin were all interviewed on Reilich's weekly television show "The Assembly Calendar with Bill Reilich" which will air later this month or early next month. Topics discussed included recruiting, retention and state funding initiatives.
