New high school principal coming to Holley

The Holley Board of Education appointed Terrance M. McCarthy of Buffalo to the position of high school principal at its November 21 meeting. McCarthy is currently assistant principal at West Seneca East Senior High School, a position he has held since December 2003. Prior to that, he was an administrative intern and secondary social studies curriculum facilitator in the Newfane Central School District. He also taught social studies at Newfane Senior High School.

At West Seneca, McCarthy's accomplishments include: creating a student leadership development program; designing and implementing after-school Academic Intervention Services and Enrichment Regents Exams review classes; facilitating shared decision making teams in the hiring of new teachers; and organizing and implementing a freshman student and parent orientation program.

McCarthy has a certificate in school district administration from the University of Buffalo, a master's in physical education from Canisus College, and a bachelor's in history with a minor in secondary education from the University of Buffalo.

McCarthy will begin his new position January 3, pending contract negotiations.
