Chili VFW Auxiliary recognized as 'Friends of our Troops'

Members of the Chili Memorial VFW 412 Ladies Auxiliary, led by Marita Fredette, were recognized for a recent fan mail campaign. Six of their members received certificates for preparing 25 or more pieces each of fan mail for the troops. Of those, five also received buttons for preparing 50 or more each.

Members of Friends of Our Troops, since the founding of Vietnam Mail Call in 1965, have coordinated many millions of pieces of fan mail that have been sent to the troops, both at home and abroad.

Writing has been underway all across the nation - by individuals and families, in schools and churches, with campus groups, scout troops, 4-H clubs and other youth organizations, veterans groups and auxiliaries, etc., to prepare cards and letters for the Christmas 2005 Fan Mail for the Troops campaign.

Mail from all over the nation is now being received at Friends at Our Troops headquarters, where it will be mixed, then prepared into more than 1,000 packages to be sent out. The fan mail goes to every branch of the military.

An overview of how the campaign functions has been posted in the on-line photo album, http://www.troopfanmail.net/album.htm. In addition, there are special pages for schools, colleges, churches, veterans groups, youth groups, Catholics, etc.

Readers' military friends and loved ones can be VIPs when they receive a big package of fan mail to share with their buddies. Send their name and complete military mailing address, along with your name, address, phone number and email address (if any). All military names/addresses are kept confidential. It also helps to know how many are in the military unit, and until what date the military address will be valid.
