Barefoot Landing recognizes contest winners

Visitors to Spencerport's Barefoot Landing selected three winners in the plaza's first window decorating contest. Students from Spencerport High School formed teams to decorate windows with a Halloween theme. The top vote recipients won prizes which will be donated to a local charity:

First prize - "Nightmare Before Christmas" in front of consignment store. Team members were: Justin Jackson, Jessica McIntee, Emma Brooks. They donated their $100 to the Spencerport High School Art Club.

•Second prize - "Black Cat" in front of pet store. Team members were: MaryBeth McGreevy, Teke Cocina, Kyle Cocina. This group hasn't decided where to donate its $50 winnings.

Third prize - "Krony's Window" - Team members were: Danielle Rogers, Vesta Clement, Heather Clemmons, Dan Coco. Will donate $25 to Lollypop Farm.

Students were allowed to create their own composition or borrow from well-known Halloween themes. One student on the winning team, Justin Jackson, a junior, helped create the winning window. He designed and painted the background in the scene, leaving the more intricate character work to teammates Brooks and McIntee, both juniors.
