John Kovaleski and Bo

Fans may go bananas for the first Bo Nanas book

Bo Nanas fans can now trace the evolution of their favorite comic-strip monkey in Bo Nanas: Monkey Meets World (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $10.95, October 2005). The popular daily comic strip by former Spencerport resident John Kovaleski was launched by The Washington Post Writers Group in May 2003 and appears in newspapers around the world.

Bo’s creator, John Kovaleski, taught cartooning at RIT for over a decade, did a comic strip for “City” newspaper and drew caricatures at various festivals. Now living his dream as a cartoonist and illustrator, he says he is an ex-graphic designer, former art director and failed filmmaker. In 1999, he was nominated for a National Cartoonists Society Award for Advertising Illustration. In his spare time he practices the unkulele and does the occasional escape-artist trick.

Kovaleski will be doing a book signing at Barnes and Noble in Pittsford Plaza on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m.
