Bright Raven gymnasts win

Bright Raven Gymnasts participated in the Judges Cup held in Rochester, earning many top honors. In the Level 5 Children's division, eight-year-old Megan Stevens of Brockport captured first place all around with a high score of 36.65 and also took first place on balance beam (9.30), third place in floor exercise competition (9.35) and third place in vaulting (9.00). Teammate Amanda Lee, of Pittsford, earned second place on the uneven bars (9.40). In the Level 5 Junior division, 11-year-old Carly King of Churchville earned second place on balance beam (8.65). Twelve-year-old Jamie Lee Gilbert, of Chili, was the winner in the Level 5 Senior division winning first all around (37.20) and first on bars (9.60). Haley Clark, of Henrietta, took first place on floor exercise (9.70), second on bars (9.55) and second all around (36.70). Melissa Rombola of Spencerport took second on balance beam (8.90).

In the Level 6 Junior competition, 12-year-old Kristina Nupp, of Churchville, was second on beam (9.40) and third on vault (9.20); 12-year-old Amber Harewood, of Chili, competed in the Level 7 Junior competition taking third place on bars (9.10). In the Level 8 Senior division, 16-year-old Christine Manthei, of Chili, won first all around (35.625) and also took first in three events: bars (9.15), beam (8.80) and floor exercise (9.125).

At Level 10, the highest level of Junior Olympic competition, 17-year-old Brittany Burr, of Greece, won first place in vaulting (9.30), second place in floor exercise (8.825), third place on bars (8.075) and second all around (33.65). Kerry Apeland, 16, of Chili, took third all around (33.375) and won first place on floor (9.075) and third on beam.
