Scouts collect
pop tops for Lakeside

Pack 324 Hamlin Cub Scouts, in coordination with the Hamlin Fire Department, filled fourteen coffee cans with pop can tops over a three month period. Lakeside employee Denise Viney, who works in Central Registration, initiated the project for her son's cub scout troop. "I thought it would be a good way for the boys to give back to the community and help others," she stated. All pop tops that are collected by Lakeside are in turn sold to Lyell Metalico. Funds raised go to the hospital for the ongoing purchase of medical equipment. Lakeside encourages all community members to save their metal tabs from daily items for recycling. Above, Pack 324 Cub scouts Zachary Viney, Cameron Gitzen and Brett Melens, along with Cub Master Steven Viney, add collected pop can tabs to the Lakeside pop can top box.
