Project will bring Christmas Eve light to Kendall

Last August, when Pastor Sara Merle, Kendall United Methodist Church minister, suggested collecting 2000 milk jugs to make luminaries to light in Kendall Christmas Eve there were a few doubters, but things fell into place. Partyka Farms donated storage space and the project began. On December 2, the community and cub scouts met at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church in Kendall for a potluck dinner and to assemble the 2000+ luminaries. Over 75 people showed up and using three tons of sand donated by the Kendall Highway Department and candles donated by the churches, the luminaries were assembled in under two hours. On December 18, at 5 p.m. the community is invited to meet at St. Mark's, Kenmor Road, to help distribute the candles to every house in Kendall. On Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. everyone is urged to light their luminary and place it at the end of their driveway. Residents who do not expect to be home might ask a neighbor to light their luminary.
