Byron receives money to extend water districts

USDA Rural Development announced the approval of a $454,000 grant to the Town of Byron to extend public water to Water District #2. The Governor's Office of Small Cities has also provided a $400,000 grant and Rural Development previously approved a loan in the amount of $1,346,000 for this project.

"The Town of Byron is making great strides in providing a safe, abundant water supply to its residents," said Patrick H. Brennan, state director for USDA Rural Development in New York.

With $400,000 in Small Cities funding and $1.8 million provided through USDA Rural Development, the Town of Byron will be able to extend water to 151 households in two hamlets not served by public water and with severe water quality issues, according to officials.
