Walker FD receives heat imaging device

Walker Fire Chief Charlie Hungerford (right) and Senator George Maziarz, check out a $9,000 model 5200 MSA portable heat imaging device. Maziarz secured $5,000 in New York state aid for the apparatus; $1,000 came from the Wal-Mart store in the town of Greece and $3,000 came from Walker Fire Department fundraising. Maziarz was also helpful in getting New York state aid to purchase a $15,000 ATV vehicle; with about $2,500 donated. The ATV was put in service in February and has already been used for four rescue operations. It can accommodate a driver, medic and up to two injured people and is the only vehicle of its kind in use in Monroe County. It is particularly useful to provide help in the case of snowmobile accidents. Photograph by Walter Horylev.
