Swimmers shine at meet

Five swimmers from the Westside WAVE Swim Club attended the Niagara District Silver Junior Olympic swim meet in Buffalo recently. The swimmers who participated were Jacob and Michelle Ammons of Spencerport, Faith and Rachel Murphy of Churchville and Kevin Sullivan of Chili.

WAVE swimmers combined to set 17 personal best times over the course of the meet, doing so in more than half the events in which they swam. One of those best times qualified Sullivan for the Boys 11-12 200 Breaststroke Niagara Gold Junior Olympics.

Top finishes for the club included a second place in the boys 13-14 50 yard breaststroke for Jacob Ammons. Michelle Ammons recorded a fifth and sixth in the girls 15 & Over 100 and 50 yard butterfly events. Faith Murphy was 11th in the girls 15 & Over 50 breaststroke and sister Rachel was 13th in the girls 13-14 50 yard breaststroke. Sullivan also finished third in the boys 11-12 100 yard breaststroke.

The Westside WAVE Swim Club holds an open house on January 17 to 20. For information see the website at westsideswimclub.org.
