SUNY Brockport hires new VP for advancement

Roxanne Johnston was appointed vice president for institutional advancement at SUNY College at Brockport. Johnston, who began her duties January 9, will be responsible for the college's fundraising, government relations and alumni relations, as well as serving as president of the Brockport College Foundation. She also will oversee the Offices of Marketing Communications and Design & Production.

The announcement was made by college President John R. Halstead who said, "Following an extensive national search, it's a distinct privilege to announce that Roxanne Johnston will be our vice president for institutional advancement and president of the Brockport College Foundation. Roxanne comes to us from SUNY Geneseo, where she has served virtually all areas of advancement from donor and alumni relations to associate vice president and vice president of their college foundation. Her experience with capital campaigns and securing grants as well as SUNY-wide leadership roles in advancement will serve her well. Most of all, Roxanne's enthusiasm for public higher education and her tireless work ethic make her a superb fit for SUNY Brockport. I am most eager to have her join our executive team."

"I am honored to be selected and excited to go to a college that's in such great shape and has so many possibilities ahead," Johnston said. 'The college has made tremendous strides, and is well-positioned for even greater achievements ahead under the visionary leadership of President Halstead. I look forward to working with the entire college community and many loyal alumni and friends to build recognition and support for Brockport's tradition of excellence and public service."

A resident of Geneseo, Johnston was recognized by the State University of New York in 2005, receiving the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. She also is past president of State University of New York Council for University Affairs and Development (SUNYCUAD), and the Geneseo Rotary Club.

She earned her bachelor's degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in organizational management. Johnston also attended the Management Institute for Women in Higher Education at Wellesley College.
