Hamlin reorganization meeting
re-defines support board jobs

There weren't many new faces, but it was still a fresh start for Hamlin Supervisor Denny Roach at the town's organizational meeting, January 3. In addition to routine annual business, the board re-established the Town Ethics Board and outlined new responsibilities for support board members.

The Ethics Board, which was created a few years ago but was short lived, is designed to provide reviews of any governmental issue that appears to be a conflict of interest. Roach said it will help convey credibility for town government within the community. "It is a protection to me and it gives people in the town some reassurance," Roach said.

Support board members are now required to complete three continuing education credits each year and cannot miss more than two meetings per year to remain in good standing.

Roach said he hoped the meeting set the tone for how the town will begin to approach the work ahead. He said residents can plan on him being in the office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and one Saturday a month for half a day. Roach was still finalizing his schedule, but said it will most likely be the Saturday following a board meeting.
