Local gymnasts compete

The Bright Raven Gymnastics girls Level 5 team finished in first place at the Graffiti Invitational held in Niagara Falls January 8 with several gymnasts earning top individual honors.

In the Level 5 competition for gymnasts ages seven to nine, Megan Stevens of Brockport captured first place all around (36.525) and also took first on vault (9.20), first on the uneven parallel bars (8.90) and second in floor exercise (9.375). Amanda Lee of Henrietta won first place on bars (9.30) in the 10-11 division. Bright Raven gymnasts took the top two all around places in the 12 and over age division. Hailey Clark of Henrietta finished first with the highest Level 5 all around score in the meet (37.325). Clark also earned medals for first place on vault (9.55), first place on bars (9.35), second place on beam (9.25) and second on floor (9.175). Jamie Lee Gilbert of Chili was second all around (37.050) and took first place on floor (9.525), second on vault (9.40), third on bars (9.00) and third on beam (9.125). The team score was comprised of the top five scores in each event. Bright Raven earned first place totaling 183.80. Other gymnasts contributing to the team effort included: Audrey Clarke and Carly King of Churchville, Danielle Adam and Kristina Schiffhauer of Greece, Holly Garbacz, Nicole Bell, Laura Manciocchi, Megan Saraceni and Rachel Shire of Chili, Jessica Tamol and Carly Kreitzberg of Irondequoit, Amber Rice of Brockport, Melissa Rombola of Spencerport, Lauren Ciranni of Gates and Haley Cunningham of LeRoy.

Bright Raven Level 6 gymnasts also made a fine showing. In the 12 and over division, Kristina Nupp of Churchville was first all around (35.975) and also won first place on floor (9.10), first on beam (9.10), first on vault (9.275) and second on bars (8.50). Emily Arnold of Gates was first on bars (8.70), second all around (34.65) and second on floor (8.825). Rhiann Korth of Avon earned second place on beam (9.075). In the 11 and under age division, Helen Zickl of Batavia captured first all around (34.90), first on bars (8.65), second on floor (8.80) and third on beam (8.80).

Competing Level 4 among gymnasts ages 10-11, Nikole VanWie of Brockport took first place on balance beam (9.60) and also earned medals for third place on floor (9.475) and third all around (37.775). The Level 4 team brought home the third place team banner (183.575) with the support of the following gymnasts: Sarah Daniels, Gabriella Garcea, Maddie Plucknette and Emily Hopkins of Churchville, Emily Wade, Julia Shire and Ciara Reifenstein of Chili, Olivia Weber of Hilton, Megan Gruver, Allison Prem, Ariel Johnsen and Alison Steinmetz of Greece, Megan Boyce and Alicia Wardell of LeRoy, and Karina Kyle of Brockport.
