Eagle Scout project completed

In May 2005, Jonathan Pack from Troop 111 in Brockport fulfilled the requirements to become an Eagle Scout with the exception of an Eagle Scout project. He approached Dianna Clinton from Lifetime Assistance about a project and she took him on a tour of their Sensory Park which had a pond that was not wheelchair accessible.

He approached the Clarkson Town Board and presented the project to construct a path. They approved the donation of the stone and sand needed for this project. Wal-Mart donated fabric paper and Chase Pitkin gave him a discount on the pavers. Pack sought donations by phone, letters and in person from private individuals to help pay for the pavers.

The path had to be dug down 10 inches and then all the dirt removed and filled in with six inches of stone.

All of the pavers had to be put in place and the path was framed in with pressure treated 2 x 4's and hosta were planted. In total, fellow scouts, leaders, friends and family volunteered more than 250 hours to this project.

On October 25, Pack was accompanied by his assistant Cub Scout Leader and long-time family friend John Brugger to his Eagle Board of Review at Otetiana Council in Rochester, where he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He found out a few weeks later his project was chosen as Eagle Scout Project of the month.
