Lakeside Memorial Hospital appoints hospitalist

Lakeside Memorial Hospital announced the appointment of Philip Atigre, MD. He has joined Lakeside to implement a Hospitalist Program to provide care for inpatients. The Hospitalist Program will help to alleviate the primary care physician's role of visiting patients in hospital, thus allowing them to focus on treatment of their patients in the office. Atigre will work with primary care physicians who will have the ultimate decision of caring for their patients. He maintains an office on the second floor of the hospital.

"When I visited Lakeside, I was impressed with the technology and also the close-knit atmosphere of community and family," he said.

Atigre is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. In July of 2005 he entered the fellowship program in Infectious Disease at the University of Rochester. In December he left the program to pursue his career as a hospitalist with the Lakeside medical staff.

He is a member of the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of the State of New York and is fluent in English and Spanish.
