Red Cross fundraiser planned

On March 25, the American Red Cross in Orleans County will host a fundraiser to support the Red Cross Local Disaster Fund.

Disaster assistance is a free service of the Red Cross funded in whole by donations from the community. No financial support for this program, or any other local Red Cross program, comes from the National Red Cross organization. All monies raised for our disaster relief fund stay in Orleans County. The Red Cross disaster relief program helps persons displaced from their homes by calamities of all sizes, from house fires and flooding to prolonged power outages, to name a few. They provide immediate assistance in the form of shelter, food, clothing and counseling. These services are provided to anyone in need, regardless of race, gender, age or socioeconomic status. Disaster relief is a cornerstone of the organization's mission, and it is what makes the Red Cross an agency of first resort for many families in Orleans County.

The fundraiser will be held at the American Legion on Main Street in Albion, and will feature a steak dinner and Chinese auction. This event will help support local Red Cross disaster relief operations and will cap off National Red Cross Month, which is observed in March. Contributions to the Chinese auction event are needed. For information contact Saundra Monti at 585-798-4997 or Beth Schmidt at 585-589-9488.

The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and pre-sale dinner tickets will be on sale in February.
