Hilton project photographing historic barns

The Hilton Historic Barn Project, a Hilton Apple Fest committee, is in the process of putting together a display of photographs for the September 30-October 1 festival, which will feature the "Historic Barns of Hilton." There are more than 170 barns in Parma which are being photographed and displayed. The Barn Project is working with local historians to help preserve this part of the community's heritage.

A team of volunteer photographers and writers is working to capture the image and history of the barns including photographers: David Beadling, Bill Bernbeck, Barbara Carder, Walt Horylev, Chuck Nichols, Maureen Spindler, Harriet Zunno; historians/writers Mary Townsend, John Bullock and Tom Burger. The photographers are visiting barns and shooting from various vantages and times throughout the year. The photographs will be reproduced - enlargements made for the display and other promotional purposes as well as for use by the individual photographer. Part of the project includes a look at each barn's history and legacy.

For information call Joe Lee, chairperson of the Hilton Apple Fest Committee, at 234-3378 or Barbara Carder, Hilton School District communications director at 392-1000 extension 7045.
