At Holley's February Board of Education meeting, board member Betty Drennen presented Stacy Tipton with a "Soaring to New Heights Award" for scoring 100 percent on the Math A Regents exam.

Student scores 100 on Regents exam

Holley sophomore Stacy Tipton was the recipient of the "Soaring to New Heights Award." She accepted her certificate at the board of education meeting on February 27. Each month, the district recognizes a student at the elementary, middle or high school level for being a positive role model. Tipton was nominated by Russ Albright, her math teacher, for scoring 100 percent on the Math A Regents exam she took in January.

This is the first time in the district's history that a student has received a 100 percent on this exam. She said she prepared by doing practice problems in her review book, reviewing her notes from ninth and tenth grade math classes and participating in class review sessions.

She is the daughter of Edward and Cheryl Tipton of Holley.
