Rangers season ends in first round

Spencerport held the early lead, but Greece Olympia took over midway through the first quarter and never let go in a 56-47 Section V boy's basketball tournament first round game.

Senior David Wilbern got the Rangers off to a fast start with a steal and layup followed by a putback of his own shot to give Spencerport an 8-6 lead. Moments later, the Spartans took the lead and the closest the Rangers would come is within three points at several points of the game including early in the fourth quarter.

Tony DiGuardi led the team with 11 points, three assists and two rebounds. Doug Potter scored ten points and added three assists while Wilbern finished with eight points. Ben O'Brien led the Rangers with five rebounds and two blocks.

Spencerport finished the season 3-16 and lose seniors DiGuardi, Wilbern, Billy Gushue, John Schreiner, Shane Sullivan and Kyle Muir, who did not play in the final game due to a medical problem.
