Planning Churchville's future

A unique planning event will begin to chart the future of Churchville. On May 5 and 6, community members are invited to participate in a charrette.

A charrette is an intensive participatory planning process that provides an opportunity for all segments of the community to have input into planning for the future of their village. Churchville's charrette is a one-day event where community members work in small groups with design and planning professionals in a dynamic and interactive brainstorming exercise. Each group will focus on a specific area of the village. Then, all groups will meet together to share their visions with each other. All ideas are later distilled and reviewed to create community consensus on a vision plan for the future of Churchville.

Because the community is experiencing a new interest in growth with many new businesses moving in, expansion of current businesses, annexation applications, senior housing, and several other housing requests, community leaders need to be prepared for this growth through planning and zoning update.

The Rochester Regional Community Design Center is leading the village through a process to craft a vision plan for our future. Everyone is invited to be involved in this process. A charrette will offer a bottom-up grassroots approach, provide a starting point for change and let everyone celebrate the history of the community.
