Foreign Language Week marked with internationally-decorated chairs

Hilton's Merton Williams Middle School Spanish and French students took advantage of the school's no-longer used library chairs to decorate them in themes representing countries' cultures and holidays, according to Spanish teacher Gloria Hoffer(seated). Among the more than 25 entries in the 'chair contest' held March 10 were: "Day of the Dead - Latin America" which won for "Most Original/Creative" - decorated by students of teacher Kelly Bergan; "Australia" which won for "Best Representation of a Country/Culture/Holiday" - decorated by students in Hoffer's classes. "Best Overall" winner was "Mexico" decorated by students in Cynthia Sanfratello's class. Among the entries were chairs decorated to represent Ireland, Puerto Rico, Mardi Gras, China and Japan.
