SUNY Brockport receives grant
for energy efficient projects

Senator George D. Maziarz announced that the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Brockport received a grant for $175,500 for the installation of seven energy efficiency projects on campus.

"The energy efficiency projects at SUNY Brockport are expected to produce energy cost savings of $300,000 annually. By saving money on energy, the college can better use its financial resources for educational purposes," Maziarz said.

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) helped the college identify a variety of energy services projects throughout the campus. Efficiency measures include variable speed drives to slow pumps so that they match the demand in water, air conditioning and chiller system upgrades, air handling system upgrades, heating system upgrades and replacement of single-pane windows with more efficient double-pane windows.

Working with NYPA, university officials have also agreed to replace the existing outdoor lighting system, along with upgrading the current Energy Management System by installing electrical meters to monitor energy trends at the college.
