Youngsters invited to showcase athletic abilities

Local youngsters between the ages of 8 and 13 can participate in the U.S. Junior Olympic Skills Competition presented by Kellogg's Frosted Flakes (Jr. Olympic Skills). This free grassroots youth participation program allows boys and girls, competing separately, the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in four (4) athletic events - basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field. The program is designed to encourage youth participation in sport while promoting sportsmanship.

The basketball, tennis, soccer and track & field portions of the Jr. Olympic Skills will be hosted by Sweden/Clarkson Community Center on March 25 at 2 p.m. Participants can register the day of the event.

Champions from this local qualifying event will advance to one of the regional competitions across the country in hopes of advancing to the national finals.
