Set of books awarded to local libraries

Congressman Thomas M. Reynolds announced that nine Western New York school libraries have each been awarded a set of classic books on the American experience, made possible through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) We the People Bookshelf program.

Each library will receive a set of 15 books on the theme of "Becoming American." Among them are Brockport-Seymour Library; Athena Middle/High School Media Center; and Craig Hill Elementary Library of Rochester.

The We the People Bookshelf program will distribute a total of 2,000 sets of books to neighborhood and public schools. Along with the award, the selected libraries will hold various events and activities designed to further engage young readers and raise awareness about the books and their themes.
