Riga Republican Committee offers citizenship award

The Riga Republican Committee announced it will offer its third annual Citizenship Award in the amount of $500. This year's Citizenship Award has been named the Dean Arlidge Citizenship Award, in memory of the late Dean Arlidge whose contributions to the community were tremendous, according to committee members.

The award is available to all Town of Riga residents who are between the ages of 16-21. The Citizenship Award may be used for educational travel, training, education, trade tools or personal improvement. Past recipients are not eligible. An application must be completed and returned prior to April 30.

Applicants complete a brief questionnaire, describing how they would use the citizenship award, how their involvement in the community along with any training or employment in the community has made an impact on others and how these actions demonstrate the Riga Republican Committee's motto "One Person Can Make A Difference."

Applications are available at the Newman Riga Library, businesses in Riga and at local schools. Call Deborah Campanella at 585-746-1920 to request an application.

Last year's recipient was Hannah Stenglein, daughter of William and Denise Stenglein.
