Village of Brockport receives urban forestry grant

Through its Urban Forestry Program, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) awarded the Village of Brockport a $4,040 grant to hire a consultant to create a comprehensive inventory and assessment of trees in the village.

"Brockport is in serious need of an up to date inventory. The last survey was completed in the late 1990s. Due to other priorities, our Department of Public Works could not dedicate resources to a project of this magnitude. Having this kind of technical expertise is going to help," said Village Manager Ian M. Coyle.

Once this survey is complete, the village will be eligible for additional grant projects to purchase replacement street trees. This replacement process will enhance streetscapes and restore important natural character back to village streets.
