Diana Hemm, daughter of Walter and Mary Lou Hemm of Spencerport, was named to the dean's list at Geneseo University. She is in her sophomore year as a business administration major with a focus on marketing.


Kimberly Hill, a junior at Roberts Wesleyan College, has been named to the dean's list with highest honors, achieving a 4.0 grade point average, for the 2005 fall semester.

A 2003 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, she is majoring in early childhood education and special education. She is the daughter of Larry and Karlene Hill of Chili.


Jaclyn Burch, a junior at Colgate University, is spending the spring semester in Wollongong, Australia, with Doug Johnson, associate professor of psychology.

Burch is the daughter of John R. Burch and Virginia E. Burch of Hilton. Burch is concentrating in neuroscience at Colgate.


Kerry M. McKee, a 2005 graduate of Spencerport High School, and daughter of Bill and Laura McKee, of Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.


Adrianne M. Knapp of Hilton is taking part in an internship this fall through SUNY Oswego's Experience-Based Education Program.

Knapp, a senior studio art major, interns at Cherrywood Studio in Oswego.


The following Johnson & Wales University students at the Charlotte Campus have been named to the dean's list for the 2006 winter term. To receive dean's list commendation, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above.

  • Joseph Kincaid of Brockport (14420). Kincaid is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in sports entertainment event management from the Hospitality College.
  • Augie Espenmiller of Hamlin (14464). Espenmiller is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in sports entertainment event management from the Hospitality College.

Among area students receiving degrees at the State University of New York at Fredonia were:

  • from Brockport: Aaron J. Johnson, bachelor of science (earth science education);
  • from North Chili: Matthew E. Nordhausen, masters in music (music performance);
  • from Rochester: Brian K. Francis, bachelor of science (computer information systems).

Pfc Jessica Harwood has been promoted to U.S. Army Specialist. She graduated from basic training and military police school at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri in November 2004 and has been stationed for over a year in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Spec. Harwood is currently serving in Afghanistan. She is a 2004 graduate of Brockport High School and the daughter of Kim and Terry Harwood of Spencerport.


Marine Corps Pvt. Devin D. Flynn, son of Sue A. and Tim B. Flynn of North Chili, completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina designated to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.


Army Sgt. John A. Yeager II has returned to the Southern European Task Force (Airborne) at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy after being deployed to Afghanistan.

Yeager is an infantry scout with more than three years of military service. He is the stepson of Bruce V. Bevins of North Hamlin Road, Hilton.
