Greeters needed for Brockport Welcome Center

The Village of Brockport is preparing for the second canal season at its Welcome Center. During the 2005 season, 85 volunteer Canalside Greeters staffed the new facility. The village is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming season.

Each volunteer is expected to tend the Welcome Center for one two-hour shift each week. Scheduling is flexible to fit the availability of the greeters, whose main role is to welcome visitors, especially boaters, to the community, help them to get oriented and introduce them to the amenities of the Welcome Center.

Perspective greeters should apply at the Village Hall, 49 State Street, and complete a "position interest" form, which is available from the village clerk or online at www.brockportny.org. For information contact the volunteer coordinator for the Welcome Center, Bill Andrews, 727-1748, 637-3721, or wandrews@frontiernet.net.
