Workshop offers workforce
certification in agriculture and horticulture

Cornell Extension of Monroe County will offer an agriculture and horticulture work-force certification program that will provide basic skills and knowledge for working in an entry level position in a greenhouse, small fruit and/or Christmas tree operation.

Participants will learn and demonstrate basic concepts and skills required for working in the agriculture and horticulture industry and will gain familiarity with equipment, processes, management practices and terminology necessary for employment in an agriculture/horticulture setting.

Participants will receive a 30 hour certification course that will be a combination of group and self study. At the end of the program a certificate will be granted. This program is offered at no cost to the participant since tuition is provided by the NYS Agriculture Workforce Certification Program.

The program is offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 2, 4, 9 and 11. Participants must attend all sessions and complete assignments. DEC & CCA credits pending. Space is limited, pre-registration is required.
