IACC presents Women of the Year awards

The Italian American Community Center (IACC) will hold its Ninth Annual Women of the Year Awards to recognize the accomplishments of Rochester area women of Italian descent. These women represent a cross section of the community, with accomplishments in education, the arts, civic affairs/government, leadership and volunteerism at the IACC. This year, five women will be honored on Thursday, April 27 in the IACC Grand Ballroom. Festivities begin with a cash bar at 6 p.m. and dinner served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person.

Dr. Dea C. Gasbarre will be honored with the Education Award. She is Director of The New Office of Grants and Reimbursement for Monroe County. She has a doctorate in education.

Kim Insalaco is recipient of the Young Woman of the Year/Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini Award for Leadership. As a member of the U.S. women's ice hockey team, she won a bronze medal at the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy.

Rosa L'Abbate, recipient of the La Simpatica Award, will be honored for her dedication as a volunteer at the Italian American Community Center.

The Art Award will be presented to Sarah Lentini, president and CEO of the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.

Agata Napoli will receive the Civic/Government Award for her work as liaison for the Italian government in the Rochester and Western New York area.
