Spencerport Lions Club honors basketball team

At their April 5 meeting, the Spencerport Lions Club honored the Spencerport Varsity Basketball Team and their coach, Josh Harter, for display of sportsmanship during the basketball game with Greece Athena. On February 15, the coach of Athena allowed the team manager, J. Mac (Jason McElwain) who is autistic, to play in a game. This game was given national and international coverage on the television and has become one of the best "feel good" stories of these times. The way the players displayed sportsmanship on that night was and is a credit to the team, school, and community and the Lions presented them with a "Robert J. Uplinger" award for community service and made a sizable donation to the New York Lions Foundation in their name. Submitted photo.
