Hoops for Heart

From March 13 through April 6, 2006, forty-four seventh and eighth grade students at Byron-Bergen Middle School took some real shots at heart disease and stroke by participating in the Slam Dunk 3 on 3 Tournament for Hoops for Heart. The students raised $862.25 for the American Heart Association. The donations raised for Hoops for Heart help fund research into heart disease and stroke and support the American Heart Association's public and professional education program. "This year was our first year of the Slam Dunk 3 on 3 Tournament, and it was a huge success," said Kristen Partridge (left), Byron-Bergen physical education teacher and Hoops for Heart coordinator. "We're very proud of all the students who participated in the tournament. We had a lot of fun for a good cause!" Holly Howland, (center) a seventh grade English teacher, was a faculty participant.
