Senior graphic design major Megan Kelley, a graduate of Spencerport High School, is one of 13 student-artists whose work will be on display in "Build Expand Achieve," the second of two senior art exhibitions at the State Univeristy of New York at Fredonia.

Kelley is the daughter of Tim and Chris Kelley.


Steve Reiss, 2004 Spencerport High School graduate, was named SUNY Brockport Male Athlete of the Week, March 27 and SUNYAC Male Track Athlete the week of April 1. Reiss won the 400 meter race at the Brockport Track and Field Invitational April 1 with a season-best time of 50.33 seconds. He also ran the anchor for the Golden Eagles' winning 4x400 meter relay (3:29.50), ran the second leg on Brockport's second place 4x100 meter relay (44.36) and finished fifth in the 200 meters (23.66 seconds).


Poet William Heyen is a recipient of the Andrew Eiseman Writers Award at the Universityof Rochester. Heyen's latest book of poetry, Shoah Train: Poems, was chosen by a panel of judges. A presentation of the award and a reception was held April 21.


Julian Ferris, a Brockport Middle School seventh grader, attended the Dale Dunbar Select Prospects Camp in Boston, Massachuesettes April 13-15. Ferris was one of 34 hockey players from across the Northeast invited to attend this camp. Guest counselours included Hockey Hall of Famers Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque and 1980 Olympic team captain and gold medal winner Mike Eruzione. Steve Kasper, former NHL player and former Boston Bruins coach, was also on staff. Ferris will be attending the Dunbar Elite 1992 Camp in August. Ferris has recently been selected to play for the Rochester Junior Americans Bantam Major Tier I hockey team which will be qualifiying for the 2007 USA Hockey National Tournament. Ferris also recently completed his first season playing for the Brockport Blue Devils Varsity Hockey team.


Several area high school students are among the outstanding high school students recognized by SUNY College at Brockport President John R. Halstead. He congratulated the 3-1-3 Program students for having achieved a college grade point average of 3.40 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). The following high schools are represented by:

SUNY Brockport's 3-1-3 Program allows high school seniors to earn up to 30 credits towards their first year of a bachelor's degree before they become full-time students. Through the program, the students take a combination of SUNY Brockport-approved high school courses and first-year classes at the college. Students earn college credit while cutting their first-year tuition costs by about 50 percent. They may transfer their credits to SUNY Brockport or other colleges in the SUNY system and to many private colleges as well.


Army National Guard Pvt. Steven M. Hammerl has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina.

He is the son of Michael and Kathy Hammerl of Bergen. The private is a 2005 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School, Bergen.


Army Spec. Jerry F. H. Wagner has returned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy after being deployed to Afghanistan.

Wagner, an airborne paratrooper, has two years of military service. He is the son of Jerry L. and Roxanne Wagner of Holley. The specialist graduated in the year 2000 from Holley Junior-Senior High School.
