Northern Lights District to honor
outstanding scout leaders

At its annual meeting to be held on May 15 at the Burgundy Basin Inn, Northern Lights District will honor a number of its scouters for their exemplary service to youth, announced District Awards Chairman Donald Hensel.

Four veteran scouters will be recipients of the District Award of Merit, the highest commendation a district may award. They are: Scoutmaster David J. Coulter of Wesley United Methodist Church Troop 56, Scoutmaster Keith Wimer of Chili First Baptist Church Troop 90, Scoutmaster J. Alan Hellaby of Scottsville's Smith Warren Post American Legion Troop 140, and Committee Chair Susan Newman of Autumn Lane Elementary School Pack 282 of Greece.

Selected as its 2006 Cub Scout Leader of the Year is Webelos Den Leader Chris McKean of Smith Warren Post American Legion Pack 140 of Scottsville. Named as Boy Scout Leaders of the Year are Scoutmasters Charles Pettibone of John Knox Presbyterian Church Troop 197 and David J. Coulter of Wesley United Methodist Church Troop 56. Chosen as Commissioner of the Year is Assistant District Commissioner David Azzario of Greece.

The following have been named as Unit Scouters of the Year by their respective packs or troops: Committee Chair Suzanne Ling of Greece Police Athletic League Pack 43, Webelos Den Leader Jacque DeVoe of Smith Warren Post American Legion Pack 140, Committee Member Jill Mangiafesto of Autumn Lane Elementary School Pack 282, Committee Chair David Moon of Brockport Rotary Club Troop 111, Assistant Scoutmaster Mark Arlauckas of Smith Warren Post American Legion Troop 140, Assistant Scoutmaster Kenneth Zodarecky of John Knox Presbyterian Church Troop 197, Committee Member Sharon Juba of Bethany Presbyterian Church Troop 240, and Assistant Scoutmaster Eric Dodge of Friends of Scouting in Scottsville Troop 372.

Northern Lights District serves youth in all Monroe County towns west of the Genesee and the Charlotte area of Rochester.
