Kortney Matthews of Brockport received a bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude from Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana in commencement exercises in May.


Steve Reiss, 2004 Spencerport graduate and Andy Vernooy Award recipient, participated in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference at St. Lawrence University, representing SUNY Brockport. Reiss edged a top seeded Buffalo State College student to win the 400m dash with a new personal record of 48.80 seconds. In addition, he ran the second leg of the third place finish in the 4x100m (43.61 seconds) and anchored the 4x400m with a second place finish (3:21.37 seconds).

He is the son of Bob and Kathleen Reiss of Spencerport.


Marisa Roach, daughter of Roger and Valerie Roach of Spencerport is salutatorian of Houghton College's class of 2006.

Roach earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology.


Paul Moses has joined the staff of Preferred Financial Group in Brighton as a financial advisor.

He is responsible for the development of financial solutions for clients' needs and anticipated future requirements. He is also responsible for assessing clients' assets, liabilities, cash flow, insurance coverage, tax status and financial objectives to establish investment strategies.

Paul Moses brings 15 years experience to the position. For 13 years, he was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Army Reserve. He served nine months in Afghanistan, and is a member of the American Veterans Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He currently resides in Hamlin with his two children.
