Leo Bernabi School receives grant
to teach tolerance through nutrition and wellness

Leo Bernabi School is the recipient of an $890 Teaching Tolerance grant to develop awareness and sensitivity for people who have special food needs.

Molly Corey of Leo Bernabi School in Spencerport received a grant to support a program for her students to develop an awareness and sensitivity for people who have special food needs. The first grade teacher implemented the plan after a student waved a peanut butter sandwich in the face of a classmate, who had a severe allergy to peanuts, to see what would happen. Through the project, not only will her students investigate, plan and initiate healthy personal eating programs, but they will also build understanding and respect for the special food needs of children with life threatening food allergies.
