Sweden Town Board accepts
Heritage Square DEIS as complete

At its May 23 meeting, the Sweden Town Board accepted the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Heritage Square development as complete for public comment. The environmental statement will now enter a 45-day public comment period ending at 5 p.m. on July 10.

Heritage Square is a proposed mixed residential and business subdivision on Redman Road just north of Sweden Town Park. The town board has been studying the developer's proposal for re-zoning of 130 acres for more than a year. A re-zoning from residential R1-2 to business B-1 would be necessary to allow a mix of residential types including senior town homes, patio homes, assisted living units and single family homes. Also included in the plans are small-scale business units.

A complete copy of the DEIS is available for public perusal at the Sweden Town Hall, 18 State Street, at the Seymour Library, 161 East Avenue and soon on the Town of Sweden's website, www.townofsweden.org.
