Construction to commence at BCSD

Construction on the Brockport Central School District maintenance bond passed by voters in May 2005 is expected to begin Monday, June 26 and continue through September 1. The district has taken steps to minimize the impact to students, families and the community.

The main campus road, Central School Drive, will be closed to all thru-traffic from June 26 to September 1 for the replacement of the road, underground utility cables and district-wide maintenance projects. Closing the campus will allow the construction to be completed within a 10-week time frame. All schools, playgrounds and athletic fields will not be available for public use. However, the district office building will remain open for limited district-approved activities including accessing the credit union, registering new students and obtaining working papers. Students needing working papers should call the counseling office at 637-1873. Working papers will be issued on Monday mornings from 9-10 a.m. and Friday afternoons from 1 to 2 p.m. in the district office building-business office conference room. The credit union will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Anyone entering the campus for an approved activity will need to obtain a visitor's pass from the security guard posted at each entrance. The construction projects may cause the entrance to campus to change daily. Updates will be posted on the district's website at http://brockport.k12.ny.us and on the information line at 637-1900. A summary of projects and frequently asked questions can also be found on the district's website.

Three drop off/pick up locations will be available for summer school students utilizing the district's bus service.

Buses will be parked at the Sweden/Clarkson Recreation Center, Hafner Park and the Hamlin Town Hall.

Other district scheduled activities for the summer including athletics, continuing education, and professional development have been relocated off the campus.

Questions about the location of an event should be directed to the appropriate department for information. Questions about the construction may be directed to the business office at 637-1820.
