Wal-Mart's Teacher
of the Year

Maxine Downey, who teaches second grade at Kendall Elementary School, was recognized by students and parents for the many extra things she does, such as her garden, an ongoing project that involves her students in growing and harvesting a variety of plants. She received a plaque and a $100 gift certificate, which she can use to buy school supplies .The school received a check for $1,000 which will be used to fund various school activities. Downey will also be entered in the Wal-Mart State Competition. Wal-Mart Manager Drew Coleman presented the check.
