BHS faculty starts scholarship to remember student

The Brockport High School Science Department is organizing a scholarship fund in memory of Shawna Cyr, who was killed in a car accident on April 15.

The scholarship, to be awarded annually beginning in 2007, will be given to a graduating science student who has a strong interest in life science and a love of animals. The science department hopes to raise enough money to offer the scholarship indefinitely. For information on how to donate to the scholarship fund, visit http://brockport.k12.ny.us/cyrfund.

This year, the Class of 2006 donated $500 to be given at this year's graduation ceremony on June 24. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has a strong interest in pursuing a career working with animals.
